Draw a line segment AB of length 4.4 cm, With A as draw a circle of radius 2 cm and with B as centre draw another circle of radius 2.2 cm.Draw tangents to the two circles from the centre of the other circle.

Steps of construction are as follows:-
1) Draw a line segment AB= 4.4cm
2) Take A as a circle and draw a circle of radius 2cm
3) Taking B as a circle and draw a circle of radius 2.2cm
4) Now draw a tangent from a point A to the right circle and from a point B to the left circle.
5) Make an perpendicular bisector of AB. Let point P be the midpoint of AB.
6) Taking P as center. Draw a circle with radius PA.
7) Let the circle in (6) intersect the left circle at Q, R.
8) Let the circle in (6) intersect the right circle at S,T.
9) Join BQ,BR, AS, AT.
Hence, BQ, BR, AS and AT are required tangents.
