Draw a line segment of length 6cm. Construct its perpendicular bisector. Measure the two parts of the line segment.

  • Draw a line segment of length 6cm and bisect it.
  • Draw a line segment AB of length 6cm using a ruler.
  • Take A and B as centre and draw arcs of radius more than half of AB on either side of line AB.
  • Let's name the point of intersection of arcs as D and E.
  • Join D and E.
  • Thus, DE is required perpendicular bisector of AB.

Measure divided part.

  • On measuring with the help of ruler, each bisected part has length equal to 3cm.
