Necessity of water:
About 70% of the body is made up of water and it is required for proper absorption of nutrients along with the removal of waste in the form of urine.
In the absence of enough water in the body, there is a condition of dehydration which leads to vomiting, diarrhea and heat stroke that may lead to death.
This is why even though water does not add to the level of nutrients, it is important to drink 8-12 glasses of water.
Necessity of roughage diet:
Roughage includes the dietary fibers that people ingest with their food.
Roughage is composed of cellulose which is not able to be digested by the the body.
Roughage does not add to the nutrient value of the diet but it reduces the chances of heart disease and digestive distress.
