Solution
The correct option is CH2S
Test for Cu2+: When the mixture containing Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions are treated with the acid HCl, then following reaction take place with Cu2+.
Cu2++HCl→CuCl2+2H+
Then, when the H2S gas is passed to mixture solution then following reaction takes place.
CuCl2+H2S→CuS ( black ppt.) +2HCl
So, now we can say that when a mixture containing Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions is acidified and further when H2S gas is passed to it only the Cu2+ ion gives a positive test.
