Question

Each surface area of a cube is $$100\ cm^{2}$$. If parallel surface of base cut the cube in two equal parts then total surface area of each equal part.


Solution

Each face $$=100\ cm^2$$
$$a^2=100\ cm^2$$
$$a=10\ cm$$
Total surface area of each equal part $$=2a^2+4\left(\dfrac{a}{2}\right)^2$$
$$=2a^2+\dfrac{4a^2}{4}$$
$$=3a^2=3(10)^2=300\ cm^2$$
