Let Sam's age be x years.
Accordingly, Eddy's age would be x+1 years and Jack's age would be x+7 years.
Given that Jack's age is 3 times the age of Eddy.
x+7=3(x+1)
x+7=3x+3

Step 1: Place unknown terms in one side and constant terms in one side
73=3xx4=2x

Step 2: Divide both the sides of the equation (2x=4) by 2
