Solution

On the applying the vaseline on the potted plant, the stomata of the leaves will get blocked that will affect the rate of transpiration and hence absorption of water. This will result in the deficiency of water in plant, hence loss of turgor pressure called wilting.

This will also prevent exchange of gases and hence affect photosynthesis. Due to this leaves will turn yellow called chlorosis.
