Life expectancy is the average number of years a person is expected to live. The average life expectancy in India in 1950 was only 35 years and as of 2020, it is 70 years.
Infant mortality rate or IMR indicates the number of deaths of children below one year of age for every 1,000 live births. In 1950, on an average, 189 infants died per 1,000 live births.
Birth rate is the number of babies born for every 1,000 people during a particular period of time.
Death rate is the number of deaths per 1,000 people during a particular period of time.
