Electric field in the given figure is directed along +X direction and given by Ex=5Ax+2B, where E is in NC1 and x is in metre, A and B are constants with dimensions. Taking A=10 NC1m1 and B=5 NC1, calculate
(i) The electric flux through the cube.
(ii) Net charge enclosed within the cube.

Given Ex=5Ax+2B
The electric field at face M where x=0 is
E1=2B
The electric field at face N where x=10 cm=0.10 m is
E2=5A×0.10+2B=0.5 A+2B
The electric flux through face M is
φ1=E1S1=E1S1cosπ=E1S1
=2B×l2 where l=10 cm=0.01 m
The electric flux through face N
φ2=E2S2=E2S2cos0=(0.5A+2B)l2
Net electric flux, φ=φ1+φ2
=2Bl2+(0.5A+2B)l2=0.5 Al2
=0.5×10×(0.10)2=5×102V m.
