The Vedic literature comprises the four principal Vedas, i.e., Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda.

and Shudras.
Family was the basic unit of the Vedic society, and it was patriarchal
in nature.
Women enjoyed a respectable position in society, and widows were allowed to remarry. Their status deteriorated in the later stages.
