The pituitary gland is sometimes also known as " Master Endocrine Gland" because of the number of hormones it produces and the control it exercises over other endocrine glands.
The different hormones secreted by the pituitary gland are:
Anterior lobe of pituitary
Hormone secreted: Follicle stimulating hormone, luteinising hormone, etc.
Intermediate lobe of pituitary.
Hormone secreted: melanocyte- stimulating hormone
Posterior lobe of pituitary.
Hormone secreted: oxytocin, vasopressin, etc.
