Let, Emma had x apples intially.

Remaining apples after eating four =x−4

She distributed x−4 to five of her friends and each of her friends gets 6 apples

∴(x−4)5=6

Multiply both the sides by 5

(x−4)5×5=6×5

⇒(x−4)=30

Add 4 to both the sides

x−4+4=30+4

x=34

Hence, Emma had 34 apples intially.
