If we reverse the potential in the circuit, the current in the branches must be same. Hence the current in the 1Ω and 2Ω resistances would be same, as shown in figure above.
Applying Kirchoff's voltage law in first smaller loop,
(i1)(1)(i1i2)(1)+(i2)(2)
i1=3i22
Hence VAB=(i1+i2)Req=(i1)(1)+(i2)(2)
