The correct option is C 2:1


To find: Ratio of equivalent weight of carbon in CO and CO2.

Solution: We know that, equivalent weight=Molarweightvalency

Let valency of C be x in CO and charge on O atom is 0

x+(2)=0

x=2

Hence, valency of C in CO is 2.

Similarly, the valency ofCO2 is 4.

Now, equivalent weight of C in CO=122=6 (since molar weight of carbon atom is 12g)

And equivalent wt of C in CO2=124=3

Hence, the required ratio=6:3=2:1

Hence (c) is the required answer.
