The correct option is A $x - 2$
Let us first factorize the numerator of the given division $\frac{x^{2} - 8 x + 12}{x - 6}$ as follows:

$x^{2} - 8 x + 12 = x^{2} - 6 x - 2 x + 12 = x (x - 6) - 2 (x - 6) = (x - 2) (x - 6)$

Since we have to divide $\frac{x^{2} - 8 x + 12}{x - 6}$ , therefore, we will divide $\frac{(x - 2) (x - 6)}{x - 6}$ as shown below:

$\frac{(x - 2) (x - 6)}{x - 6} = x - 2$

Hence, $\frac{x^{2} - 8 x + 12}{x - 6} = x - 2$ .
