Solution

The correct option is A 0.1mm/s

Step 1: No of copper atoms per unit volume
n=ρNAM
n=9×103 kg/m3×6.023×10230.063 kg=8.60×1028 m3

Step 2: No of electrons per unit volume
As one copper atom gives one free electron, thus number of electrons per unit volume is 8.6×1028 m3

Step 3: Drift velocity
Cross-section area of wire, A=πd44=3.14×(0.001 m)24=7.85×107 m2
Drift velocity, vd=IAne
vd=1.1 A(7.85×107 m2)(8.6×1028m3)(1.6×1019 C)=0.01×102 m/s=0.1 mm/s

Hence option(A) is correct.
