What are the forms of CO2 that is transported through blood?
Carbominohemoglobin, HCO3− and plasma dissolve
There are three forms of CO2 transported through blood.
The main form is bicarbonate, followed by carbominohemoglobin and the least if by plasma dissolve form.
CO2, a by-product of cellular respiration, is dissolved in the blood, where it is taken up by red blood cells and converted to carbonic acid by carbonic anhydrase. Most of the carbonic acid then dissociates to bicarbonate and hydrogen ions.
