Crop production:

  1. When crops are grown in large amounts to sustain and fulfill the needs of humans, the phenomenon is referred to as crop production.
  2. A high amount of crop production is needed by the large population today.
  3. There are methods of crop production that yields higher yields, namely, Crop rotation, mixed cropping, manures, fertilizers, etc.

Crop rotation:

  1. When many crops are grown on the same land piece altering over a small time period is referred to as Crop rotation.
  2. This tends to enhance soil fertility and soil nutrient level.
  3. Growing one crop in one season and another in the next is generally the method followed for crop rotation.

Advantages of crop rotation:

  1. It enhances soil fertility
  2. It enhances crop productivity
  3. It enhances soil nutrient level
  4. Reduces pests and disease
  5. Limits pollution
  6. Enhances Economic benefits to farmers

Disadvantages of Crop rotation:

  1. When rotational cropping is done incorrectly, it may lead to a large amount of harm to cropland.
  2. This method, without knowledge of crops and agriculture, can lead to the destruction of the soil.
  3. For the process to be successful, one must have the knowledge of which crops can be planted after which and in which season.
