  1. According to the kinetic theory, mutual attractive forces between the gas molecules are very weak.
  2. The molecules are very loosely packed and move around randomly.
  3. When the temperature decreases, the loss of heat results in a decrease in the average kinetic energy of molecules.
  4. Consequently, molecules come closer to each other.
  5. This results in the change of state from gas to liquid.
  6. This process in which a substance from its gaseous state turns into its liquid state is called condensation.

Example: We observe water droplets on the surface of a glass containing ice cubes. The water vapors present in the air condense on striking the cold surface of the glass by forming droplets.
