Earthing is a process of transferring of charge from a charged object to the earth.
There are five types of Earthing systems :- TT system, IT system, TN-S system, TN-C-S system and TN-C system.

Earthing is done for the safety purpose of humans and equipment. An earth pin is longer and thicker than two other pins because it is first to connect and last to disconnect from the main source to avoid the electric shock. Earthing is the proper connection of exposed metal parts of an electrical circuit to the ground. It is accomplished by thick copper wires. When the live wire touches the earth wire, large current flows through it and causes the fuse to blow off or circuit breaker to trip and thereby protecting the appliance as well as users.
