Uses of dilute Sulfuric acid:

  1. Pickling of metals: Dilute sulfuric acid removes impurities from the surface of the metals and this process is known as pickling.
  2. Extraction of metals by leaching: In leaching process ore is treated with chemicals like dilute Sulfuric acid to convert metals into soluble salt sulfate solutions, which on electrolysis give pure metals.
  3. Removing harmful chemicals: It removes harmful chemicals from petrol and kerosene oil.
  4. Laboratory agent: It is used as chemical reagent in the laboratory for many chemical reactions.
  5. Drying agent: It removes chemically combined water from compounds and acts as a drying agent for purifying Hydrogen chloride gas.
