Solution

Definition of evaporation.

Evaporation is the process by which a liquid is changed into its vapour state.

  • This method is used to separate a solid that is soluble in a liquid.
  • The method involves heating the mixture until the liquid evaporates completely, leaving behind the solid residue.
  • This method is used in the production of sea salt from seawater.
  • Sea water is collected in shallow ditches and allowed to evaporate by sunlight. When all the water gets evaporated, salt is left behind.
  • Evaporation is also used to obtain milk powder by evaporating the water present in the milk.
