The President of the United States is elected not directly by the people but by the electors by the process of the electoral college. The Parties choose their Candidate who campaigns throughout the country. The General election held in November where people cast their vote for electors I.e., a body of persons which will choose the President. Electoral college consists of electors based on each state's total number of representation in Congress.
