Solution

Dear student.

A leaf has following adaptations anatomically to carry out photosynthesis:

1. Cuticle is non-cellular, waterproof and transparent layer. It allows light to pass through.

2. Upper epidermis is a single layer of cells present on the upper surface of a leaf. It allows light to pass to the cells below.

3. Palisade mesophyll has vertically arranged cells in a way that many cells can fit into a small space. The cells have a large number of chloroplasts.

4. Spongy mesophyll have large air spaces for rapid diffusion of gases to and from the photosynthesizing cells.

Regards.
