Salvia belongs to the family Lamiaceae. In order to transfer the pollen to the insects, it makes nectar. However, the nectar is blocked by a system called staminal lever mechanism. It is blockade between insects and nectaries. When insect pushes itself against the blockade, it makes the anther to open and drop the pollens to the back of the insects. Thus, the insect becomes pollen laden. It then performs pollination to the next salvia flower.
