Explain the difference between afferent and an efferent neuron.
Afferent neurons:
These neurons carry information to the central nervous system (CNS).
Efferent neurons:
These neurons carry information away from the CNS to the muscles or glands of the body.
Difference between afferent neurons and efferent neurons:
Afferent Neurons | Efferent Neurons |
They have short axons and long dendrites. | They have long axon and short dendrites. |
These neurons conduct impulses from the receptors of the body to the CNS. | These neurons conduct impulses from the CNS to the effectors. |
The neurons are sensory in nature. | The neurons are motor in nature. |
