Context: The poet conveys that man can never get himself attached to his past or his future.
Explanation: Man's future cannot be trusted. His life is short. His future may not exist; it may not be promising. His past is bygone, the past time cannot be re-experienced. So none are trustworthy.
Comment: A wise man will learn from his past and not trust his future.
