1. Decomposers are the animals that help in the decomposition of dead and decaying animal bodies.
2. Decomposers feed on the dead organic remains of an animal and break them into simple soluble molecules by enzymatic activity.
3. These molecules are absorbed by the soil.
4. These molecules can be now used as nutrients by plants growing in soil.
5. Examples: bacteria and fungi are the major decomposers.
