  • Conclude the answer explaining about how two land-masses met to create mountains.
Solution:
  • Millions of years ago, India was not part of Asia as it is today. The world was a single landmass called Pangea. After sometime, Pangea broke into two landmass. The northern landmass was Laurasia and the southern landmass was Gondwana Land.
  • Indian subcontinent was part of Gondwana Land. Because of the internal forces of Earth, Gondwana Land broke further and Indo-Australian plate separated from Gondwana Land and started its northwards journey.
  • After again, millions of years after, the Indo-Australian plate collided with Eurasian Plate. The collision resulted in the folding of the edges of the two plates and it created the mighty Himalayas.
