Coleoptile is the pointed sheath that covers plumule in a seed. It comes out of the ground, turns green and carries out photosynthesis.
Coleorhiza is the sheath that covers the radicle in a seed. It remains underground and does not cause any photosynthesis. It is penetrated by the root during germination.
