Explain the life of workers during proto industrial era in England

Open in App
Solution

During the proto industiral era, industries were organized under the putting out system. There were small household firms which manufactured products like woolen textile. Merchants would provide the raw material to such firms. The household firm would then convert the raw material into finished product which would be bought by the merchant to be sold in markets. Such firms were mostly located in rural areas. Workers in the firm were mostly family members and production was organized on a small scale.
