Solution:
Raja Harisingh of Jammu and Kashmir decided to remain independent. But soon Pakistan instigated the tribal Muslims to invade Kashmir. As a result, they were able to occupy certain area of Kashmir.
Realising the severity of the problem in hand, King Harisingh agreed to join India in October 1947.
Immediately, the Indian Army attacked the tribal soldiers and drove them out of the valley.
India registered a complaint against Pakistan at the United Nations. The UNO called for battle truce on January 01, 1949.
Even till today, Kashmir issue has not been resolved and still remains a contentious issue between India and Pakistan.
The North East part of Kashmir that was occupied by Pakistan is called ‘Pakistan Occupied Kashmir’.
