Our constitution is the most vivid and carefully written. As time progresses, the aspirations of the citizens also change. The constitution has the provision to
amend itself.
Constitution can be amended in three ways:
Minor provisions may be amended with the simple majority.
Major Provisions require special majority.
Provisions, federal in nature require special majority and approval from more than half of the states.
Some provisions act as a skeleton to the constitution and are called the basic structure of the constitution. The basic structure of the constitution can never be amended. The constitution is flexible and rigid at the same time.
