  1. C2H4
  2. KI
  3. Hg
  4. PbSO4

Open in App
Solution

  • (A) Reaction of C2H4 with ozone
Ethylene reacts with ozone to form mole ozonide of ethylene initially then reacts with Zn/H2O to form formaldehyde.
C2H4O3−−−−Zn/H2OHCHOFormaldehyde
  • (B) Reaction of KI with ozone
Potassium iodide react with ozone to produce potassium iodate which on further rection with water gives potassium hydroxide.
KI+3O3KIO3+3O2
KIO3+H2OKOH+I2+O2
  • (C) Reaction of Hg with ozone
When mercury oxidises by ozone, it produces Mercury (I) oxide.
2Hg+O3Hg2O+O2
  • (D) Reaction of PbS with ozone
Lead (II) sulfide react with ozone to produce lead (II) sulfate and oxygen. The reaction proceeds at room temperature.
PbS+4O3PbSO4+4O2
