Question

Explain the role of villi in absorption

Open in App
Solution

Villi are finger like projections present on the internal walls of the small intestine. Each villus contains a lymphatic vessel or the lacteal surrounded by a network of capillaries. Digested carbohydrates and proteins are absorbed by the network of capillaries while fats in the form of fatty acids and glycerol are absorbed by the lacteals
