Explain the term Suspension using example.

Suspension:

  1. A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particles do not dissolve but remain suspended throughout the bulk of the solvent and settles down at the bottom on standing.
  2. The particles of a suspension can be easily seen by naked eyes and they are big enough to scatter the beam of light.
  3. Example- a mixture of sand in water is a classic example of a suspension in which sand particles remain suspended in water and does not dissolve.
