1. Potato is an underground stem tuber which stores food in the form of starch.
2. It is swollen due to food stored in it. It has buds in the depressions called the eyes.
3. These eyes are the nodes and the buds in the eyes are axillary buds.
4. These buds give rise to new aerial shoots.
