Solution

Moment of inertia:

  1. As the person is travelling by a bus, the body of the person is in a state of motion with the motion of the bus.
  2. But as the bus stops suddenly, the passenger tends to move ahead and jerk forward due to inertia of motion.
  3. This is because the bus stopped its motion, but the body moving with it failed to stop when the bus came to rest.
