Solution
The process of sexual reproduction involves the processes of meiosis, gametogenesis, and fertilization. By meiosis cell division, the number of chromosomes gets halved. So, from 2n, the number of chromosomes becomes n, i.e. they become halved. As a result, the gametes are haploid. So, when these gametes fuse, they form a diploid zygote. The zygote is the first cell of the newborn. So, all organisms become diploid having a 2n number of chromosomes.
