Leaves of tree may get detached from a tree, if we vigorously shake its branch due to the inertia of rest.
When the branch is suddenly set in motion, the leaves attached to it tend to continue in their state of rest. This generates a lot of strain at the junction of leaves and the branch. Due to this strain, some leaves get detached from the branch.
