Suppose we have a mixed fraction as: $\text{Whole}\frac{\text{Numerator}}{\text{Denominator}}$,

then its improper fraction is given as: $\frac{\text{Whole}\times \text{Denominator + Numerator}}{\text{Denominator}}$

For $8\frac{4}{9}$, on substituting the values we get:

$8\frac{4}{9}=\frac{(8\times 9)+4}{9}=\frac{72+4}{9}=\frac{76}{9}$
