Factorize:
3x3 − x2 − 10x

Open in App
Solution

We have:3x3-x2-10x=x(3x2-x-10)
We have to split (-1) into two numbers such that their sum is (-1) and their product is (-30), i.e., 3×-10.
Clearly, -6+5=-1 and -6×5=-30.

3x3 - x2 - 10x =x3x2-x-10 = x3x2-6x+5x-10 =x3x(x-2)+5(x-2) =x(x-2)(3x+5)
