Solution

The correct option is D Release of merozoites from red blood corpuscles
Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by Plasmodium species. When an infected mosquito bites an individual, the sporozoites are released into the bloodstream. The sporozoites enter into the liver and start multiplying into merozoites. This stage is known as the pre-erythrocytic cycle. Merozoites are released into the bloodstream and attack RBC. These merozoites divide and form new generation merozoites. This is known as the erythrocytic cycle. At the erythrocytic stage, the RBC bursts and release merozoites which are responsible for clinical symptoms such as fever.
So, the correct answer is 'Release of merozoites from red blood corpuscles'.
