Solution

AgCl, a white precipitate is soluble in excess NH4OH.

When silver chloride (AgCl) reacts with ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) in excess, it dissolves and forms diammine silver chloride. The reaction is given below :

AgCl+2NH4OH→[Ag(NH3)2]Cl+2H2O
(Silver (Ammonium (Diammine silver (Water)
chloride) hydroxide) chloride)
white ppt.

Whereas lead(II) chloride (PbCl2) when reacts with ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) it gives a chalky white precipitate of lead(II) hydroxide (Pb(OH)2) which is insoluble in excess ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH).
