Find n and p for a binomial distribution if mean = 6 and standard deviation = 2. Also find p (x=1).

It is stated that the mean =6 and the standard deviation =2.
Therefore,
np=6.....(1)
npq=(2)2
np(1p)=4[p+q=1]
6(1p)=4[From (i)]
1p=46
p=123=13
Substituting the value of p in equation (1), we have
n×13=6
n=6×3=18
p+q=1
q=1p=23
Now,
P(x=1)=18C1(13)1(23)17=(2)18(3)16
