Solution

The correct option is B 0.001
Arithmetic mean,
amean=a1+a2+a3+.....+ann
amean=2.620+2.625+2.628+2.630+2.6265
amean=2.6258 cm
On rounding off to correct decimal places, we get, amean=2.626 cm
Now, absolute error,
|Δa1|=|a1amean|=|2.6202.626|=0.006 cm
Similarly,
|Δa2|=0.001 cm
|Δa3|=0.002 cm
|Δa4|=0.004 cm
|Δa5|=0.000 cm
So, mean absolute error,
Δamean=|Δa1|+|Δa2|+|Δa3|+.....+|Δan|n
Δamean=0.006+0.001+0.002+0.004+0.0005
Δamean=0.0026 cm
On rounding off to correct decimal places, we get, Δamean=0.003 cm
Hence, fractional error =Δameanamean=0.0032.626=0.00114
On rounding off to correct decimal places, we get, 0.001.
