Find the area of a square whose perimeter is 160 m . A floor 3.0 m long and 2.0 m wide is to be covered with square shaped tiles of length 10 cm.Find the cost of flooring it, if the cost of tiles is Rs. 150 per 100 tiles.

Let a be the edge of square.
Perimeter of square =4a=160m(Given)
a=1604=40m
Now,
Length of floor =3m
Breadth of floor =2m
Area of floor =3×2=6m2=60000cm2
Edge of square shaped tile =10cm
Area of tile =102=100cm2
No. of tiles required =Area of floorArea of tile=60000100=600
Cost of tile is Rs.150 per 100 tiles.
Therefore,
Cost of 600 tiles =6×150=Rs.900
