Find the area of figure, in square cm, correct to one place of decimal. (Take π=227)

Step:Find the area of the figure

Let 'r' be the rediusof semicircle,
then r=BC2=102=5 cm
Now, area of semi-circle=12πr2=227×5×5
=39.29 cm2

Area of ABCD=(AB×BC)=10×10
=100 cm2

Area of ΔAED=12×Base×Height=12×8×6

=24 cm2

Area of the figure =Area of ABCD+Area of semi-circle-Area of ΔAED
=100+39.2924
=115.29 cm2
Hence, the area of the figure is115.3 cm2approx.
