Question

Find the equation of the line passing through (-3, 5) and perpendicular to the line through the points (2, 5) and (-3, 6).

Open in App
Solution

Let A(2, 5) and B(-3, 6) be any two points

Slope of AB=6532=15

Since the required line is perpendicular to AB.

Slope of required line m = 5.

Now the required line passing through point (-3, 5) having slope 5

y - 5 = 5(x+ 3) y - 5 = 5x + 15

5x - y + 20 = 0.
