Question

Find the equation of the line whose slope is 56 and x-intercept is 6.

Open in App
Solution

Since, x-intercept is 6, so the corresponding point on x-axis is (6, 0).

Slope = m = fraction numerator negative 5 over denominator 6 end fraction

Required equation of the line is given by:

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 0 = fraction numerator negative 5 over denominator 6 end fraction (x - 6)

6y = -5x + 30

5x + 6y = 30
